The power to transform

Continuous investment in infrastructure is critical to fuelling scientific exploration, from fundamental and applied research to technology development. Since we launched it in 2006, our Innovation Fund has provided more than $2 billion for equipping Canadian researchers with the labs and tools they need to seek solutions to global challenges and to generate social, health, environmental and economic benefits for us all.

At the heart of the research infrastructure projects recently funded through the Innovation Fund is a desire to have a transformative impact on society, whether through the creation of a community-based research network on child and youth trauma or by incorporating Indigenous Knowledge into monitoring the effects of environmental change on fresh water. Each one is driven by the will to change our world for the better, one scientific advancement at a time. Here are six examples.
