Michael Houghton, Canada Excellence Research Chair in Virology at the University of Alberta, discusses the challenges he's faced in seven years of attempting to develop a vaccine against Hepatitis C.  He predicts that in the near future, immunization will help to eradicate the potentially fatal disease, which currently afflicts 100 million people worldwide.
