Ottawa's Algonquin College has scored a major coup with the creation of its Advanced Digital Cinema Research Centre. The Centre is unique in Canada and is one of only a handful in the world equipped to explore the rapidly evolving technologies of digital moviemaking.
The ground-breaking Centre houses the very latest digital imaging tools including a $760,000 high-resolution camera, identical to the one used for the latest Star Wars movie. Post-production editing facilities are also equipped with the most powerful cutting-edge tools.
Jack Treuhaft, the Centre's Director of Research and Development, believes the advanced technologies will allow researchers to develop innovative moviemaking techniques that will one day transport audiences to new and undiscovered digital worlds.
