Update - CFI Financial Reports Information Sessions

CFI is holding information sessions at various locations throughout Canada to provide detailed information on how to complete the financial reports and to answer any question institutions may have with respect to the completion of these reports. Financial reports for the cumulative period ending March 31, 2001 are due no later than June 15, 2001 for all projects having received CFI funds prior to April 1, 2001, regardless of whether the project was completed at March 31, 2001. Topics covered include, amongst others, detailed information on how to complete each section of the report, specific requirements for final reports, the type of information to be entered in each field, items to watch for when entering the information and the review of examples of completed financial reports. Award finalization, records keeping at the institution and contribution audits will also be discussed.

We anticipate the information session to last approximately 2 hours, with the possibility to extend the question period, if needed. Institutions will be responsible for all travel expenses and making travel arrangements.

We strongly recommend that the CFI Account Administrator as well as the individuals who will be responsible for completing the financial reports attend one of these sessions. The participation of the CFI Liaison, CEO and other individuals is not required although these people are more than welcome to participate if they wish to do so.

Information sessions will be held in Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Halifax, Montreal and Vancouver. There will also be a web broadcast of the Montreal sessions on May 10th, 2001. Furthermore, CFI will discuss financial reports in a session offered in Ottawa as part of the CAURA event, although this session will not be as detailed as the ones offered in the other cities.

Participants may wish to print and bring the entire Financial Report Instruction Manual document although only Appendix 3 and 4 are truly required. Participants should also print and bring to the sessions Appendix 1 to 13 of the PowerPoint presentation attached below. We have attached our entire PowerPoint presentation given some participants may wish to print and bring this document with them to the session (ex. to take notes or use it as a reference after the session) although only Appendix 1 to 13 are truly required.

Further details and instructions (ex. system requirements, material needed, etc.) regarding the web broadcast are available here .
