OTTAWA, ONTARIO — The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) launched a call for proposals for its College-Industry Innovation Fund-Stream 1 today. The CFI will allocate $40 million over four years for innovative projects that enhance the capacity of colleges to support business innovation in Canada. The funds will be used to support state-of-the-art, industry-relevant research infrastructure that should create and enhance partnerships with the private sector in a specific area of institutional strategic priority.
Colleges are encouraged to submit proposals by May 15, 2016, that demonstrate a strong track record of private sector partnerships for collaborative projects which respond to important industry needs, contribute innovation in the business sector and focus on an area of institutional research priority. While responding to industry needs, the activities outlined in a proposal along with the requested infrastructure should not duplicate existing services or facilities in the region.
Only colleges eligible to receive CFI funding can apply to the College-Industry Innovation Fund. Those who are not currently eligible to receive CFI funding must provide the necessary documentation no later than two months before the Notice of Intent (NOI) deadline, which is March 15, 2016.
For details regarding eligibility, please refer to the CFI’s Policy and Program guide. To request eligibility to apply for future CFI funds or to verify your institution’s eligibility status, contact the CFI at CIIF [at] innovation.ca.
