James Downey is professor of English at the University
of Waterloo and former president of that university. He has also been
president of the University of New Brunswick and Carleton University.
A graduate of the Memorial University of Newfoundland and the University
of London, he has written widely on academic leadership, educational reform,
and English literature.Lois Claxton is corporate secretary of the University of Waterloo.
