The research of these students, postdoctoral fellows, and research scientists has encompassed work in:

• the ordering of molecular orbitals in many inorganic and organometallic complexes;
• the characterization of new phenomena such as the ligand field splitting in core-level spectroscopy and novel effects in resonance Auger spectroscopy;
• the characterization of sulphur in coal, bitumens, asphaltenes, and minerals and on mineral surfaces;
• the mechanism of formation of anti-wear films on engine parts formed from oil additives; and
• detailed studies of protective films for metals, glasses, and polymers (the process for these protective films has been patented).
