The CFI laboratory and facility listing

Helping connect business with Canadian research

The Canada Foundation for Innovation’s (CFI) laboratory and facility listing is a new online resource that makes it easier for businesses to connect with research facilities at universities, colleges and research hospitals across Canada to establish research partnerships and collaborations.

Scheduled to launch in fall 2013, this new section of our website will list research labs and facilities that are funded by the CFI or use CFI-funded infrastructure, and that are working with or are interested in working with the private sector. It may also help researchers at post-secondary institutions locate specialized equipment and facilities to advance their own work.

This initiative directly supports one of the CFI’s main objectives — to promote networks and collaborations with partners from academic, private and public sectors.

If you are a business seeking help with your research and innovation needs, such as product/service development and differentiation or productivity improvement, this directory will help you find research facilities, equipment and expertise available right in your backyard — or elsewhere in Canada — in virtually every discipline.

You can view a sample entry here.

If you are a representative from a CFI-funded institution or a researcher interested in participating, the listing can help you:

  • establish or expand partnerships and collaborations with industry;
  • undertake contract research with the private and public sectors; and
  • optimize the use of CFI-funded infrastructure.

You can simply fill in the template available here for each lab your institution would like to feature in the listing, and return the completed form to us at industry-industrie@innovation.ca. To be included in the fall launch, we need to receive your completed templates by July 12, 2013. Entries submitted after this date will be processed and added to the listing as quickly as possible.

If you have any comments or questions about this project, please write to us at industry-industrie@innovation.ca or call Rodrigue Hurtubise, Manager, Public Affairs, at 613-947-4663.
