Carolyn Cross Appointed to Board of the Canada Foundation for Innovation
Ottawa, Ontario, August 16, 2012 — The Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Industry, Minister of State (Agriculture) and Minister responsible for the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), today announced the appointment of Carolyn Cross to the Foundation's Board of Directors, effective June 21, 2012.
"Ms. Cross brings a breadth of knowledge and innovative ideas to the CFI, particularly in the field of photodynamic therapy, which helps to treat infectious diseases," said Minister Paradis. "I am confident that she is a welcome addition to the Board."
Since March 2000, Ms. Cross has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ondine Biomedical Inc. She is also a founder and President of OrGenX Biopharma Inc., a WEConnect-certified company, and a founder, President and Managing Director of Photobiologica Foundation.
Ms. Cross currently sits on a number of boards, including those of Periowave Dental Technologies Inc., Sinuwave Technologies Corp. and the International Photodynamic Association. She also serves as Corporate Secretary of the PanAmerican Photodynamic Therapy Association, of which she was a founding member, and sits on the Advisory Board of the McGill University Dental School. Ms. Cross is a member of the Women Presidents' Organization, the International Women's Forum, the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts, the Courthill and Cherie Blair foundations, and the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology.
Ms. Cross is a chartered financial analyst and has a Masters of Business Administration from York University and an Honours Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario.
