Dear Mr. Rock,
The scientific and technological advances we have experienced as a society over the past century could not have been imagined back in 1912. And when this time capsule is opened years from now, we here in 2012 cannot predict what will have been accomplished at the Advanced Research Complex.
As a proud supporter of this facility, the Canada Foundation for Innovation has recognized the potential that the Advanced Research Complex has to push the boundaries of knowledge. Our hope is that — for decades to come — this state-of-the-art research facility for photonics and geosciences will allow top researchers from around the world to make new discoveries and innovate.
With access to great minds and cutting-edge tools, the students trained in these labs promise to become innovators of tomorrow — innovators who will look back on this day as the beginning of a bold, new chapter in scientific exploration.
On behalf of the Canada Foundation for Innovation, I would like to congratulate Dr. Ian Clark and Dr. Paul Corkum for their leadership, vision and commitment to launching this ambitious scientific endeavour, and to the University of Ottawa for making it a reality.
Sincerely,
Gilles G. Patry
