Quebec, QC, August 1, 2012 – Researchers at Université Laval have developed a blue light to help bleary eyed shift workers regulate their internal clocks and get the sleep they need when they need it.

One-third of Canada’s workforce – approximately 6.5 million people – work shifts that keep them awake at night and require them to sleep during the day. From police officers and firefighters to manufacturers and truck drivers, many Canadians rely on an assortment of coffee, energy drinks and medication to keep themselves alert at night and sleep when the sun is shining.

Project progress reports available May 7, 2012

As you are aware, the CFI normally makes project progress reports available on April 1 of each year, with a June 30 deadline for submission. This year, however, due to major work on the CFI’s Awards Management System, project progress reports will not be available until Monday, May 7. The awards system will be offline on Friday, May 4 to enact these changes.

Windsor, Ontario, March 20, 2012 — The Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State for Science and Technology, today announced six new projects supported by the Automotive Partnership Canada initiative at the University of Windsor. The projects advance research and development (R&D) in Canada’s automotive industry by supporting new technologies that will provide lighter material alternatives for cars, and significantly enhance battery efficiency for vehicles.
