OTTAWA, April 14, 2009 — The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) is pleased to announce the 2009 edition of its Science Writing Award. The deadline for submission is May 29, 2009.
Now in its fifth year, this award honours the writer of an outstanding print story that contributes to an increased awareness and understanding of science in Canada.
The 2009 federal budget provided the CFI with $600 million for a research funding competition to be launched before December 2010.
In preparing for this and future competitions, and to inform the CFI’s strategic plan moving forward, the CFI is engaging Canada’s research community to explore current and emerging issues, gauge the value of the CFI’s program architecture, and identify possible improvements to future funding programs.
These consultations will look at four broad areas:
The Project Progress Report and the Institutional Report forms for 2008-09 will be accessible online April 9th. The deadline for the submission of the Project Progress Reports is June 30, 2009. The deadline for the submission of the Institutional Reports is July 31, 2009.
