New Directors Appointed to the CFI Board

Ottawa, July 18, 2005— John Evans, Chair of the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), today announced the appointments of Claude Benoit, Gary Glavin, and Ross McCurdy to the CFI Board of Directors.

Of equal importance is the training of the highly qualified personnel who are critical to the transfer of knowledge from the academic to the private and public sectors.

Ottawa, June 29, 2005—Today’s announcement by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) of 132 projects at 39 universities will enable Canadian institutions across the country to attract and retain 181 high-caliber researchers as a result of this new funding.

Dr. Eliot Phillipson, President and CEO of the CFI, was joined by David L. Emerson, Minister of Industry Canada to announce a new investment of $25.5 million for Canadian universities.

CFI Invests in Research Infrastructure for Award-Winning Researchers

OTTAWA, April 29, 2005—Today, Dr. Eliot Phillipson, President and CEO of the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), announced an investment of $988,661 under the CFI’s Career Awards. This infrastructure investment by the CFI will support the work of the six 2005 Science and Engineering Research Canada (NSERC) Steacie Fellows.

The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) today announced support for 120 projects in 41 universities which will allow new and talented researchers to conduct their research in world-class facilities.
