Ottawa, December 5th, 2002—David Strangway, President and CEO of the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), and editors James Downey and Lois Claxton are proud to announce the official launch of a new collection of essays showcasing some of the country’s most cutting-edge researchers. This collection of essays is a Canadian first and features the work of 33 pioneers in their field.
The revised CFI Policy and Program Guide is now available and effective December 1st, 2002.
We hope you will like its new structure, especially the new active Table of Contents. You can now drill down to sub-chapters and display only the sections you wish, and each section displayed can be printed individually. For those users who may wish to display and/or print the entire Guide, that option is also available.
Ottawa, November 29, 2002 – Dr. David Strangway, President and CEO of the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), today announced a first-time investment of over $1.9 million under the CFI’s new Career Awards Program. This infrastructure investment by the CFI will be provided to five Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Steacie Fellows and two Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Distinguished Investigator Award recipients.

Ottawa, October 21, 2002 -- Today, Dr. David Strangway, President and CEO of the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) announced the launch of a Call for Proposals for the Fourth Innovation Fund Competition. The CFI’s Board of Directors has approved an allocation of $450 million for this competition which is open to all eligible universities, colleges, hospitals and not-for-profit research institutions. It builds on the $1.32 billion investment provided in the first three competitions.
Ottawa, October 18, 2002 – Today, the Canada Foundation for Innovation’s Senior Vice-President, Carmen Charette, was joined by Dr. Rey Pagtakhan, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Secretary of State (Science, Research and Development) on behalf of Allan Rock Minister of Industry, in the CFI’s announcement of over $22 million to provide world-class research facilities to 124 new faculty at 27 universities across the country.
Sections 2.7 and 4.10 of the CFI Policy and Program Guide have now been updated. A new section has also been added - section 4.13. Previous versions of these sections remain available for reference. They can be found within the new sections as PDF documents.
