The forms are to be used in the same way as our other forms. Project Leaders can log in and fill out the Project report using the CFI Forms site. The institution can review the reports and submit them when ready.

Ottawa, November 15, 2001 -- Ms. Carmen Charette, Senior Vice-President of the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), announced today an investment of $17.6 million to provide world-class research facilities for new faculty members at 33 Canadian universities. Mrs. Brenda Chamberlain, Member of Parliament for Guelph-Wellington and University of Guelph President, Dr. Mordechai Rozanski, also participated in the announcement which took place at the University of Guelph.
The response to the Call for project outlines issued last March for the International Funds has confirmed the strong interest of the research community in major international collaborations. Indeed, 72 project outlines were received in July, requesting over $1 billion. The estimated budgets of the project outlines for the International Joint Ventures Fund amounted to over $740 million, while the total dollars requested under the International Access Fund was about $289 million. Each of the two Funds has a budget of $100 million.

The events of two weeks ago make this a year like no other. All of the rules changed in the blink of an eye, making the task of identifying and setting the government’s fiscal priorities more complex and challenging than it has been in generations. Right from the beginning of my presentation I would like to wish you well in your deliberations in the weeks ahead.
Ottawa, September 25, 2001… Dr. David Strangway, President and CEO of the Canada Foundation for Innovation, will be appearing before the Standing Committee on Finance on Wednesday, September 26, 2001 at 3:30 p.m. in Room 253-D, House of Commons.
Dr. Strangway will make a brief presentation to the Committee and participate in a panel discussion with the Committee. Following the committee meeting, Dr. Strangway will be available to the news media outside the committee room.
The CFI has engaged Hickling Arthurs Low Corporation to undertake an evaluation of the New Opportunities Fund. Recipients of New Opportunities awards may expect to be contacted and asked to participate in a survey.

Ottawa, July 17, 2001…Ms. Marlene Catterall, Member of Parliament for Ottawa-West--Nepean on behalf of the Honourable Brian Tobin, Minister of Industry, today joined Dr. David Strangway, President and CEO of the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), on the announcement of an investment of $15.9 million by the CFI to support the development of an advanced microchip research and design network. The “System-on-Chip” research network will link over 250 Canadian technology researchers at 32 universities and research institutions across the country.
