OTTAWA, December 2, 1999 - At the Innovation Canada Conference today, Dr. David W. Strangway, President and CEO of the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), announced an investment of $3.2 million for awards to help launch the research careers of 21 new faculty members at 10 Canadian universities.
Made under the New Opportunities Fund, these awards will provide infrastructure support to help attract and retain high-quality researchers at a number of Canadian universities.
Ottawa, October 15, 1999 - Dr. David W. Strangway, President and CEO of the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) announced an investment of $11 million to provide 124 researchers with the infrastructure necessary to conduct 64 research projects in 26 Canadian universities and colleges.
Montreal, June 23, 1999... Dr. David W. Strangway, President and CEO of the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), announced today an investment of $226 million to support 122 infrastructure projects in 51 Canadian universities, colleges, hospitals, and not-for-profit research institutions.
Ottawa, March 31, 1999... Dr. David W. Strangway, President and CEO of the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) announced today an investment of $131.8 million to support 78 infrastructure projects in 33 Canadian universities and research institutions.

Through partnerships, the total federal investment in the Foundation will translate into $2.5 billion in world-class facilities and equipment needed to make world-class discoveries - discoveries that will open the door to exciting commercial opportunities and jobs down the road."
