The University of Saskatchewan officially opened the Canadian Feed Research Centre (CFRC) today in North Battleford, a state-of-the-art facility where researchers will work with provincial and industrial partners to improve the nutritional value of livestock feed. The Canada Foundation for Innovation invested more than $4 million in the facility.

To mark this year’s National Science and Technology Week, Dr. Gilles Patry, president and CEO of the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), published a commentary in the Ottawa Citizen describing the remarkable strides researchers at Canadian universities and colleges are making, partially as a result of having access to state-of-the-art tools and infrastructure.

OTTAWA, October 16, 2014 — Ed Holder, the federal Minister of State (Science and Technology) announced 137 new and returning Canada Research Chair (CRC) recipients today at a ceremony at the University of Toronto. This funding will allow researchers from across the country and across disciplines to advance their work using state-of-the-art research tools.
