Biography - Pierre Normand
As Vice-President of External Relations and Communications, Mr. Pierre Normand is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with external stakeholders, as well as providing management and direction to the CFI’s communications and government relations activities. He provides the leadership and strategic advice necessary to develop, manage and implement corporate programs and policies as they affect the external positioning of the CFI.
Mr. Normand brings more than 20 years of management, communications and external relations experience in university research, innovation and post-secondary education to this position.
Prior to joining the CFI, Mr. Normand held the position of Director of Communications at the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences where he was responsible for providing advice on governance and organizational issues, policy, and government relations.
As a communications consultant (Normand Communications) from 1997 to 2008, he provided strategic advice and a range of communications services to leading national organizations, including the CFI, the Networks of Centres of Excellence and the Canadian Research Knowledge Network.
From 1988 to 1997, he was the Chief of Communications at the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council.
Mr. Normand is a graduate of Université Laval in political science and communications.
