Biography - Rick Miner
Dr. Rick Miner is President Emeritus of Seneca College and served as its President from 2001-09, when he retired. Prior to joining Seneca, he was Vice-President, University of New Brunswick (UNB), and before that, he was at Saint Mary’s University (SMU) in Nova Scotia where he served as Director of the Canada/China Language and Cultural Program, Dean of Commerce, and MBA Director. He also held faculty positions at UNB, SMU and the University of Toronto. Dr. Miner holds a BA in History from Gettysburg College, an MBA from the University of Utah and a PhD in Management from the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Miner is Past Chair of the Committee of Presidents of Ontario Colleges, and has served on the boards of the Ontario Innovation Trust, Polytechnics Canada, the Toronto Region Research Alliance, The Greater Toronto Marketing Alliance and Seneca Corporation. He is also a member of the Millennium Scholarship Foundation.
Dr. Miner works closely with various federal government departments on issues that impact on immigration, skills shortages, innovation and commercialization. And he is now working with Colleges Ontario to explore system-wide solutions regarding adult education and literacy.
